So I gave 4 of 5 stars due to the shop itself only being so so along the lines of helping me out. However, I’d give 5***** to the Mechanic Tim for him being willing to go above and beyond to make sure my truck was properly serviced before I got back on the road! He swiftly handled the situation and showed care as if I were his daughter. I was in an emergency situation traveling across the country. My tuck was having an issue out of nowhere. He spent extra time on his own volition to make sure I was safe and secure to contrite my journey! You arrived shortly before 4:00 p.m. after traveling from Burning Man with a brake concern. Because brakes are a critical safety system, we explained that we could not recommend or perform repairs without first completing a proper brake inspection. We offered that inspection at 50% off our regular $104.95 fee, but you declined the service. You mentioned that someone had recently replaced brake components and may have left out a bolt. Given the seriousness of that possibility, we are relieved that you arrived safely. However, as a professional repair facility, it is vital to determine the full condition of the braking system before accepting responsibility for any repair. One of our technicians later agreed to look at the vehicle independently, outside the shop. Any arrangement made after that was between you and him and was not a service performed by Polar Bear Auto Care. We respect every customer’s decision, but we believe it is important for readers to understand that the shop’s professional inspection and repair services were declined.

They answer the phone when you call. They are responsive to your scheduling needs. They are transparent with their operations and keep you informed. Obviously this company wants to charge you for unnecessary work got it done at another shop for a 3rd of the price and only needed 1 of the four parts they said I needed wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone

Your A/C system is just that—a **system**, made up of multiple components that all work together. You can’t simply replace one component and expect the system to operate properly without addressing the rest of the system. When replacing an A/C compressor, reputable manufacturers and component suppliers generally require the appropriate drier or accumulator to also be replaced. In some applications, the drier is built into the condenser assembly. This is important because the drier removes moisture and contaminants from the refrigerant system and helps protect the new compressor. The A/C system also requires a **precise amount of refrigerant oil**. Too little oil can result in inadequate lubrication and premature compressor failure, while too much oil can reduce cooling performance and cause other operating problems. Proper oil balancing is an important part of doing the repair correctly. As a proud **MACS member**, we follow established industry standards and proper A/C service procedures. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! They did a diagnostic on my A/C and I decided to have them fix the problems. All EXCEPT the cabin air filter. I changed that myself to save some money. They did not like that and left car in pieces and even broke some pieces. Two months later, the freon leaked out from a schrader valve, one they "replaced". I took it in because its still under warranty. They addressed that valve but now there's another leak. And it happens to be near the cabin air filter 🤔. That leak didnt show the first time they diagnosed it. Now magically it appeared the second time they worked on the vehicle, only two months later. They broke pieces before so I dont doubt they sabotaged my vehicle. Especially because they chose to give me all my money back so they wouldn't have to fix it or deal with me. Yes, I have my money back but the vehicle is worse that when it first rolled into their shop. They are friendly when your handing them your money but as soon as you exercise your warranty, they turn to rude people. I dont think they understand that we the customer are the reason they are in business. Avoid the headache and save your money, go somewhere else.

I am very sorry that happened. It had nothing to do with you not paying for us to replace the cabin filter. The technician had opened the area to inspect and replace the filter, but unfortunately forgot to reassemble it afterward. Since that was the only work area inside the vehicle and everything else was under the hood, it should have been put back together during the inspection so the vehicle was ready to go if no additional work was approved. There is no excuse for that mistake — the technician dropped the ball, and you have our sincere apology. The technician has been notified, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. I went here just to get my ac checked out on my 2016 Honda Civic because it was blowing warm air on the driver side and cold on the passenger side. They told me my cars ac was mixed with two different kinds so I paid extra just for them to empty it out. Long story short they told me that I needed hella parts to be replaced because it was leaking here and there which I want to believe but it’s hard to believe at the same time. They texted me but as I carefully read it, they said, “system does cool normally when filled with refrigerant”. Yea I understand you recommend replacing the parts in my car but I just went to another place to get my ac recharged and it blows cold perfectly fine now. So idk why this place couldn’t just do that instead? Pretty sus but I mean I didn’t want to pay $3070.20 in total for all that. If anything I’d rather just recharge my ac once in awhile than paying that price to be honest lol. That’s just me though so I don’t know about anyone else. I’d suggest going somewhere else because these guys just want money.

We understand your concern. The newer refrigerant 1234yf in these vehicles is known to leak more easily, and our policy is not to recharge a system when a leak is present. It can be expensive, and if the charge only lasts a week or two, it wouldn’t be a good outcome for you. We apologize again and hope it holds up through the summer.

I went to Polar Bear because I was told by my car mechanic that my 1993 Honda’s air conditioner could not be repaired. Since the car has only 73000 miles on it I wanted to keep it, but I wanted air conditioning! I called Polar Bear and was told that they would be able to replace the air conditioner with the original type of fluid. They had my car for almost a week and completely repaired the air conditioner that no other auto service could fix. The price was high but worth it. Polar Bear is extremely knowledgeable about cars and very professional. The shop is clean and organized. The entire crew was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Polar Bear for all your car repair needs.

I brought my 2017 DenaliHD to them thinking I may have a some kind of leak in my AC system because of the lack of cold air after using it for the first time after a cold winter. Excellent experience. We have a 94 suburban that was not used for 10 years so AC needed special attention and given 31 year old truck needed some custom hoses and other parts. Polar Bear mechanics worked their magic and brought the system back to life. Blows super cold and we are super happy. I will not go into a Long description of my experience at Polar Bear Auto Care. I will say that no one should ever do business with this establishment. DO NOT GO THERE! Response to owner, To the tune of 4890 dollars  you filled the refrigerant and then evacuated it back to 7 ounces. Why, also wanted 137 dollars for the privilege of using my debit card. You basically wanted to replace my entire a/c system for more than the value of my vehicle. You sent me text about all this instead of calling me to explain. I find your business practices unprofessional.

Your vehicle came in with 7 ounces of R134a, it holds 21 ounces. Your A/C system is leaking from the compressor and service ports and the evaporator inside the dash. We told you when it was full it got cold. The fact that you just had it filled and is cold is no surprise. It will leak out again and stop working. We are part of the state sponsored cool air program which focuses on helping customers with their leaking a/c systems in vehicles, we would not have been asked to join this program if we were not honest and accurate. We are the best out there and stand behind our inspections and diagnostics. We even refunded your money no questions asked. How many companies do that? Where did the R134a go?
