Automotive A/C Specialists Since 1986
Polar Bear Auto Care originally opened as an A/C-only repair shop, and automotive air conditioning remains one of our strongest specialties today. Our technicians have the experience, training, specialized equipment, and refrigerant-service capabilities needed to properly diagnose modern A/C systems.
If your A/C system is low on refrigerant, it has a leak. Simply adding refrigerant will not fix the problem—it only temporarily replaces what has already escaped. The correct approach is to find the leak, repair it, and then properly evacuate and recharge the system.
We strongly recommend that you do not add refrigerant or “stop-leak” products from an auto parts store. Many do-it-yourself recharge products contain sealants or additives that do not repair the actual leak and can contaminate or damage A/C components and professional service equipment. If your system is low, have it properly diagnosed instead.
We diagnose the system first, identify the problem, and recommend the appropriate repair.

How do I know when my A/C needs service?
Weak airflow, warm air, unusual noises, inconsistent cooling, or musty odors are all signs your A/C system should be checked. If the system is low on refrigerant, there is a leak somewhere in the system. Finding and repairing that leak early can help prevent additional damage and more expensive repairs.
Why is my A/C blowing warm air?
Common causes include a refrigerant leak, compressor problems, condenser or cooling-fan issues, electrical faults, or climate-control problems. Simply adding refrigerant does not repair a leak. A proper A/C diagnosis identifies the actual cause before repairs are recommended.
Should I add refrigerant from an auto parts store?
We strongly recommend against using DIY recharge products, especially products containing stop-leak or sealants. These additives do not properly repair the leak and can contaminate or damage A/C components and professional service equipment. If your system is low on refrigerant, have the leak diagnosed and repaired correctly.
Do you service hybrid or electric vehicle A/C systems?
We provide A/C diagnosis and repair on many hybrid vehicles, along with routine maintenance and general service. We do not service fully electric vehicles or perform major hybrid-system repairs.
